Perris completed its rezoning on February 11, 2025.
The City of Perris has been working with the California Department of Housing and Community Development regarding the implementation of its Housing Element, including but not limited to, the City’s timeline for related actions. Adoption of the City’s updated zoning in accordance with its approved Housing Element is expected to occur in February 2025.
It felt like a conflict between city employees (which were trying to decrease their RHNA allocation) and YIMBYs.
There was a big question about whether or not cities should be able trade their RHNA allocations, and how to take into account things like cost of infrastructure.
I pushed to encourage the state to use market prices as part of assessing pent-up housing need.
